Large Fibreglass Pool Installation in Cessnock

A 9.0m x 4.4m fibreglass pool installed in a spacious Cessnock backyard, designed to create a resort-style outdoor retreat for family living and entertaining. Despite the site’s reactive clay soil conditions, this project successfully transformed the outdoor area into a stunning lifestyle space.

Project Snapshot

Homeowners Goal

The homeowners wanted a resort-like outdoor escape in their backyard where the entire family could relax, entertain visitors and enjoy quality time together year-round. With the huge backyard available they were envisioning a large swimming pool that would be the highlight of the outdoor space and would provide plenty of room for family enjoyment, casual swimming and socialising while creating the sensation of a private holiday resort at home.

They wanted a big pool, but they also wanted something that would be practical to purchase and maintain over the long haul. Durability, low maintenance and long-lasting performance were key factors in choosing the pool, as they wanted a pool that would continue to look good, work well and give years of enjoyment without needing a lot of maintenance.

The Challenge

During the planning and site assessment stage, we identified the reactive clay soil characteristics on the land. Clay soils tend to expand when wet and shrink when dry and should be carefully considered in the design and installation of a swimming pool. Ground movement might impact the long-term performance and stability of the pool if not approached correctly.

At the same time the homeowners wanted a large resort type pool to be the main point of their backyard. They required a solution that would work with the soil conditions on site but still provide the size, beauty and utility they were seeking for. The problem was to find a pool that would give long-term durability, be easy to maintain and create the family-friendly outdoor getaway they envisioned.

Our Solution

Installation Process

1. Site Preparation and Excavation

The project started with a detailed site assessment and excavation work to prepare the backyard for the new pool. The land has a clay base and special attention was taken in the preparation of the site so it would support the pool over the long term. The excavation was finished and the foundation was ready for the next step of the installation.

2. Installation & Delivery of Pools

The location was prepared and the fibreglass pool shell was delivered and delicately lowered into position. The pool was then levelled and secured before plumbing, filtration and circulation systems were built. This phase laid the groundwork for the project and moved the homeowners’ vision closer to reality.

3. Waterfall Feature, Pool Surrounds

For the pool design, we added a feature waterfall to achieve the resort style feel the homeowners intended. The cascade offered visual interest and the soothing sound of running water to help transform the backyard into a more pleasant outdoor escape. Also, other works were done surrounding the pool to get the space ready for the final finishes.

4. Decking and Finishes

The next task was to construct timber decking around the pool for both functionality and looks. The decking created a warm space to rest and enjoy the outdoor environment while adding to the overall resort type design. After the final finishes and inspections, the backyard was converted into a beautiful family-friendly sanctuary.

Final Result / Outcome

More Space, Better Living

The final outcome brought to life the resort-style backyard getaway the homeowners had dreamed of. The new fibreglass swimming pool has become the feature of the outside area, providing a spot where family and friends can relax, swim and enjoy quality time together all year round. The waterfall element was a nice touch, lending the setting the relaxing sights and sounds so frequently associated with premium resort environments.

Family-Friendly Relaxation

The pool was thoughtfully incorporated into the existing backyard design with the new timber decking providing a seamless connection between the pool and the surrounding outdoor living spaces. All of these amenities combined to provide a more functional, appealing environment to party, relax and enjoy the big backyard on the property.

Long-Term Lifestyle Value

Most importantly, the homeowners got a lasting, low-maintenance pool solution that solved their issues with the clay soil conditions of the location. The end result not only gave them the resort like lifestyle they were after, but also added a vital long term feature to their property that the family may enjoy for many years to come.

Client Review

We are absolutely thrilled with the finished result. From the beginning, we wanted a large family pool that would create a resort-style atmosphere in our backyard, but we weren't sure what type of pool would be best for our property. The team took the time to understand what we wanted, explain our options, and recommend a solution that suited both our lifestyle and the site conditions.
